Layer your sounds, even out the volume, and start the night in one tap.
The first feature release. Nature sounds now play under your audiobook and with each other, sudden loud passages are softened so nothing jolts you awake, playback picks up where you actually fell asleep, and you can start the whole routine from your home or lock screen without opening a bright app.
Added
- Ambient layers — play rain under an audiobook, or rain and thunder together. Up to three nature sounds mix with whatever else is playing, each with its own level, and a mix you like can be saved and reopened by name.
- Even volume — softens sudden loud moments so a quiet chapter and a loud one feel the same, with a ceiling that nothing plays above no matter what the volume keys say. Choose Gentle, Steady, or Strong.
- Sleep-aware resume — when the timer ended your night, or you paused and fell asleep, playback goes back to roughly where you were still awake rather than a few seconds. It tells you when it does, and one tap skips back ahead.
- Playback speed — 0.5× to 2× for audiobooks, podcasts, and playlists. Slower is a real option: a calmer read is easier to drift off to. The current speed stays visible whenever it is not normal.
- Crossfade between songs — each track in a music playlist blends into the next instead of stopping, with the length up to you and an override per playlist.
- Home and lock screen widgets — one tap resumes what you were listening to and starts your usual sleep timer. Deliberately dim, so checking it at 3 a.m. does not wake you up. Also in Control Centre, and via Siri on iPhone.
Changed
- The sleep timer’s fade now brings every layer down together, so ambient sounds end with your audiobook rather than after it.
- “Fade-out duration” is now “Sleep fade-out”, to keep it clearly separate from the new crossfade between songs.
- Resume rewind now applies specifically to pausing on purpose; falling asleep has its own setting under “After you fall asleep”.
